I’ve switched my desktop back to Linux and now have some piles of the work to sort out. It seems like I get used to running a couple of virtual machines all the time to do so — a FreeBSD for some platform-dependant C programming, and a couple of Windows hosts. Nevertheless, it all seems to operate quite well and at a decent speed, even under a full load.
